Don't Feed the Fear

If you've ever experience crippling anxiety or fear, you know that it can make everyday life really difficult. It's terrifying. It's makes you feel like your drowning in a fog of darkness. It's real.  But so is my God! This Coronavirus is a perfect storm that the enemy can use to create an atmosphere of fear and torment - neither of which is of God. That's SO important to remember.  God brings peace beyond understanding.  He brings joy unspeakable.  He brings calm in the midst of chaos. Here are a few things that God has taught me throughout the years to help fight this battle with anxiety and fear.  Hopefully it can help some of you who may be dealing with fear and anxiety with the Coronavirus swirling all round us: 1.  Guard your eyes and ears.     Fear grows if we feed it - so starve it! Limit or cut out TV, Facebook, and negative conversation.  Be wise and learn what we have to about this virus and then s...

Anxiety and Depression - My Truth and My Peace

Disclaimer: This is long!  But the healing could have never come without the process. Two months of barely eating.  I'd lost so much weight that I didn't fit any of my clothes anymore.   Two months of no sleeping.  Like literally waking up every thirty minutes...for months. The only thing that would keep me asleep was to play preaching on youtube. When the sermon was over, I'd wake up.   Nauseated every minute of every day. The enemy whispering in my ear horrible, disgusting, off the wall things that I have never spoken of to anyone.  It was a constant record of lies playing on repeat in my head daily, nightly, for months. Fear gripped me. Worry engulfed me. It was a perfect storm that the enemy orchestrated. He had waged war on my mind, my body, my future, and my spirit.  And he almost won. It was three months before I was to leave for Africa.  Daniel and I were still dating but I knew that a proposal was...

For those "In the Waiting"

Matthew 6:25-34 I've always read this chapter thinking that God doesn't want me to worry about material things. But today I read it a bit differently. He will provide my EVERY need, my heart's desire, He will stay true to His promises  BUT He may have you wait! It will sometimes lead to what I like to call as Holy Frustration.  Knowing that the waiting is part of His will for your life, but still, because we're human, leads to us being impatient at times and getting frustrated at His timing. BUT GOD ALWAYS COMES THROUGH! This is my testimony. My family. My husband and my children.  I call them my miracles from God. God had me wait for all of it. But it was so worth it. You see, I didn't get married in my 20's like all my other friends.  And let me tell you, the waiting was hard. It was trying, it was lonely, and it was exactly what I needed, but didn't want. In the waiting, He taught me so much: His love fo...

My Favorite Non-Profits

So through the years, I've come across some of my favorite non-profits. I am very cautious about who I speak out for because unfortunately not everyone is honest.  But here are the ones that I follow besides Refuge : Heart4Uganda  -  This is my friends Vicki and Klint's ministry that they are currently living out in Jinja, Uganda. Their mission is to teach and empower the people of Uganda. Klint teaches Farming God's way to the villagers and ministers to the men of the villages, among other things.  This two little listings include soooo much more than meerly teaching farming and ministering.  Check out their website to see what the principles of farming God's way does for the local community.  Farming by this methods yields a HUGE crop.  Also, when you visit Uganda, you see hundreds if not thousands of men on the streets just hanging out. You also see many ministries for women, but none for men.  Klint wants to change this.  He pours ...

Wrap up

Hey y'all! I've been gone for a year and hopefully can start this thing up again. I went to Africa this past Dec-Jan and had a great time.  Learned so much for Refuge and met some amazing people. I went up a week earlier with my friends Vera and Mike and we spent time with some missionary friends who I love so much. We became so close to Vicki and her family and I know it's a God relationship.  Vicki and I met on Instagram and they have been such a blessing to my life.   And I got engaged! In Africa! And I got married And we painted our house and I moved in (after the wedding of course). Which lets just say choosing paint colors for an entire home is not so easy for an indecisive person. So all in all it's been a quiet year LOL NOT! So that about wraps up my year.  I'm sure I'll post a few blogs about what's been going on but for now, just an update. Love y'all to Uganda and Back! YOU are it!

Hey guys!  I'm back!  God's been taking me down some crazy paths lately in my walk with Him and I can feel him leading me to certain things.  This blog is one of them.  So you may be hearing more from me :) So I had a thought tonight during Bishop's sermon that really just opened my eyes and had me speechless (at least until now). It was prophesied that someone would come before Jesus and prepare a way for Him.  That was prophesied in the Bible YEARS before John was ever a twinkle in his mother's eye.   He was set apart from the womb. God had a plan for him that was going to usher in the greatest gift the world has ever been given. Imagine the day when John realized HE WAS IT!  He was the one that was spoken about in the old testament.  Imagine him sitting in the playground or in the synagogue, I don't know when it hit him, but imagine what it felt like to be taught about a messiah that is to come and realize that YOU are the one chose...

Yay though I walk THROUGH...

When I sit down to write, I write my heart - what I love, where I've been, where God has taken me, and what He's taking me through. I feel sometimes that the "theme" of my posts are the same but I guess that's where He has me right now, in this season.  So if you get bored, I apologize.  I can only write my heart and hope just one word will cause someone to feel that they aren't the only ones going through the same things, praying the same prayers, hoping for the same things.  So with that, here's a glimpse of the journey He has me on lately. I'd like to share my devotion yesterday.  Boy did it put me in my place - but it was exactly what I needed to hear. "My child, do not expect the trials to be lighter than in the past.  Why should you think the tests would be less severe?  I test all things, and there are areas of your life that as yet I have not touched. ( Oh boy!) Do not look for respite. The days ahead may call for greater endurance and...
